چکیده

A new edge-enhanced error diffusion algorithm, based on Eschbach's algorithm, is proposed. Thick-edged artifacts as well as small edge-enhancement effects for the bright or dark pixel values are observed in the previous algorithm. By analyzing the phenomena, a new improved algorithm is proposed by using the diffused error sum and input pixel value. An input pixel is classified into a normalor edge-region pixel based on the error sum criterion. A new error calculation is then employed for the edge-region pixel, while conventional error calculation is used for the normal-region pixel. The proposed method requires only a few additional calculations and provides edge-enhanced binary output images. The edges are in fluenced less by the brightness offset, and thick-edged artifacts are reduced.

Reversible logic is one of the new paradigms for power optimization that can be used instead of the current circuits. Moreover, the fault-tolerance capability in the form of error detection or error correction is a vital aspect for current processing systems. In this paper, as the multiplication is an important operation in computing systems, some novel reversible multiplier designs are propose...

A Novel Edge Enhanced Error Diffusion

The error diffusion method is good for reconstructing continuous tones of an image to bilevel tones. However, the reconstruction of edge information by the error diffusion is represented as weak when the power spectrum is analyzed for display error. In this paper, we present an edge enhanced error diffusion method to preprocess original images to ac...

Halftoning via Error Diffusion using Circular Dot-overlap Model

Circular dot-overlap model is one of the simplest printer models, which is used to predict the actual gray levels of printed images. Model-based halftoning can produce print outputs which can render the gray levels of original input image more correctly and keep more detail in the outputs. Cluster-dot halftoning is a classical method used to minimize dot gain. In this paper, the model-based hal...

In this paper, a novel technique for the design of two-channel Quadrature Mirror Filter (QMF) banks with linear phase in frequency domain is presented. To satisfy the exact reconstruction condition of the filter bank, low-pass prototype filter response in pass-band, transition band and stop band is optimized using unconstrained indirect update optimization method. The objective function is form...

A multiscale error diffusion technique for digital halftoning

A new digital halftoning technique based on multiscale error diffusion is examined. We use an image quadtree to represent the difference image between the input gray-level image and the output halftone image. In iterative algorithm is developed that searches the brightest region of a given image via "maximum intensity guidance" for assigning dots and diffuses the quantization error noncausally ...
